While I may have been raised in the suburbs, I became an uptown girl when I began attending Ursuline Academy High School on State Street. Playing soccer and running cross country, my after-school practices consisted of us running down State Street, making a right turn on St. Charles Ave, running along the neutral ground and into Audubon Park for our three-to-five mile runs. Phew! Those were the days! 

A few years later, I found myself transferring to Loyola University after my failed attempt at leaving NOLA for college. I got a cute little apartment on South Carrollton Ave and couldn't be happier taking the streetcar to class. Not the fastest mode of transportation, but hey, that's Big Easy living. 

Did you know that the St. Charles Ave line has been continuously running since 1835? Not counting the temporary closing after Katrina... making it the oldest continuously running street car line in the whole world?! Yes, indeed.
